Of course, the one thing people have come to expect about Thanksgiving is the turkey, but that doesn’t mean the side dishes can’t shine, too. I’m a HUGE fan of the vegetable sides at Thanksgiving. So much so that I usually only eat the vegetables and the meat (mashed potatoes count as a vegetable…right?).

But seriously…why waste stomach space on a plain dinner roll when there are SO many delicious flavors in dishes like these?

How to Choose The Best Gluten Free Side Dishes for Your Meal

So how do you choose the perfect vegetable side dishes for your Thanksgiving turkey dinner (or any big meal you’ve got planned…)? Here are my tips:

  • Offer a variety – Don’t have three brussels sprouts dishes and no other vegetables. Try to get a variety of vegetable sides so there’s something for everyone.
  • Try something new – Instead of the exact same sides every year, try a new veggie dish. It’s a great opportunity to try a new recipe!
  • Look for make ahead options – On Thanksgiving more than any other day, making food ahead of time is essential. It’s okay to have a few dishes that need prepared right before dinner, but for the most part try to get everything done AHEAD of time.

I hope you’re able to take some time this Thanksgiving and reflect on a few things you’re thankful for. Me? I’m extremely thankful for my family, for nourishing and delicious food, and for my readers (that’s YOU!).
